Casey is responsible for all product development and process research.  He started with Burke in 1985 as Burke’s first meat scientist.  From 1988 to 1990 he attended Iowa State University and earned his Ph.D. where he researched processing methods that improve product characteristics in further processed meats.  He then became a meat science faculty member at Kansas State University.  In 1991 Casey came back to Burke to lead R&D efforts.  Casey is active in the Institute of Food Technologist, is currently on the executive board as treasurer of American Meat Science Association.  Casey is also adjunct professor of meat science at Iowa State University.  He serves on the advisory board of the Kansas State University Meat Science program, and the University of Nebraska Food Processing Center.  Casey is a long-time treasurer of the Cyclone Country Kennel Club and enjoys dog training and upland bird hunting.
